In an announcement to the Loyola community, Provost John Pelissero announced that Thomas Regan, S.J., accepted the university’s offer to become the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).
Regan has served as interim dean of the CAS since June, and in his message, Pelissero said Regan has “demonstrated effective leadership and excellent management of the college this past year.”
Before coming to Loyola in 2011, Regan served in administrative and faculty positions at other Jesuit institutions, including Boston College, Loyola Marymount University and Fordham University.  In 2003, Regan served as provincial of the New England Province of the Society of Jesus. Regan was also the national president of the Jesuit honor society, Alpha Sigma Nu and is a past president of the Jesuit Philosophical Association.
In addition to taking on the role of dean of CAS, Regan will continue to be an associate professor in the Department of Philosophy, serve as academic dean for St. Joseph College Seminary and as director of the Jesuit First Studies MA program, according to Pelissero’s announcement.
